First of all visit the SBI online account opening website and then click on the Savings Bank Online Account Application form to fill up the basic details. As soon as you click on save as draft a Temporary Customer Reference Number (TCRN) will be generated which you need to take a note. You will also get an SMS in your mobile number with the TRAN details.
Why I said to save as draft, without submitting initially is because you should review the application form data carefully after filling the application form.
While filling the SBI account opening form, make sure you have selected the types of account, nominee details and your address & mobile number are provided carefully without any mistake. After successful submission of the form, take a printout of the application form to follow the next step.
Step 2: Visit Your nearest SBI Branch with Application form & Necessary documents
Now check out the necessary documents required for SBI account opening. You need to provide these while visiting SBI branch to open a bank account.
Documents required for account opening in SBI bank
For each person who wishes to open the account, you will need to provide:
- 2 Recent passport-size colored photographs.
- KYC documents as mentioned in the AOF.
If you give photocopies, please produce the original documents for verification when you visit our branch.
For opening an account, you need to provide the following information:
- KYC (Know Your Customer) information: The acceptable KYC documents are available through drop down menu in the AOF.
- Information about the Savings Bank account you wish to open and the facilities you would want in the account.
- Form 60, if you do not have Permanent Account Number (PAN) of Income Tax.
- Form DA-1 (optional), if you wish to make a nomination (recommended).
- In case of SBI current account or salary account, you may need to provide your business information and employee details.
Step 3: Collect your Kit and check the bank rules
After successful processing of your application form and verifying the documents submitted, bank will provide you the SBI account kit which will consist a debit card, cheque book, internet banking credentials and many other information related to your new SBI bank account.
